There’s generally no need for homeowners to move out while their roof is being replaced. The disruption to their routine is usually minimal as the majority of roofing contractors do construction work during office hours.
The same can’t be said for those who work from home, unfortunately. Construction work will always produce noise that can disrupt your work and routine. As such, it might be better for them to get out of the house while construction work is ongoing.
If you feel like you won’t be too bothered by the noise, you should still, however, take the following precautions before the start of construction work.
Children and Pets
During construction work, a lot of debris might fall off your roof and pose a safety risk to your pets and children. To keep your kids away from harm, establish safety areas they can play in and warn them not to go outside while the contractors are working on the roof. To keep pets safe, put them in rooms where the noise can’t reach them as even the most docile pets will be stressed out by the banging noises above them.
Vehicles and Outdoor Furniture
Construction work can get quite hectic; power tools and other debris might fall off the roof. All of this means no area near your house – not even your garage – is safe during construction. If you have a car, park it away from your house, preferably as far away as possible. The same applies to outdoor furniture; bring these pieces inside to keep debris from falling on them.
Landscaping
To keep your landscape looking pristine, cover it with tarps.
